- How to Use our Herbal Remedies
Most of our herbal remedies are best taken as tea-like infusions.
Generally the herbs are combined with water and brought to a boil for about 5 minutes and then allowed to steep for an additional 10-15 minutes. Stirring the mixture a few times while it is steeping is helpful. Keep the infusion covered while boiling and steeping. When you are ready to drink or store the infusion let the herbs settle to the bottom of the pot and collect the infusion off the top, discarding the herbs on the bottom. You can also make the tea in the pot with a tea infuser or strain the infusion with a tea-filter or tea-strainer into a cup or a pitcher after seeping. The herbal infusions are best prepared and used on the same day but can be stored in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days. The tea can be taken hot, warm or cold and a sweetener may be added if necessary. Specific instructions for each formula, including the amount of herb to water, are included in each package.
